Every bit of October thirty, 2015, the Windows viii and eight.1 Pro Pack (which upgraded Windows 8 Home or 8.1 Abode to Windows eight Pro or viii.1 Pro, with Media Center) and Media Pack (which added Media Center to Windows viii Pro or eight.ane Pro) are no longer available for buy from Microsoft. Previously purchased feature pack licenses will still work, and valid feature packs may still exist bachelor for purchase from third-political party retailers. Support for these products is still available.

Going forrard, you may be unable to view information (metadata) such equally the title, genre, and artist for songs, and the managing director, actors, and cover art for movies in Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player. Later on looking at client feedback and usage information, Microsoft decided to discontinue this service. This ways that new metadata won't be updated on media players that are installed on your Windows device. However, any data that's already been downloaded will yet be available

This change doesn't touch on any major media player functionality such as playback, navigating collections, media streaming, and then forth. Only secondary features that crave downloading of new metadata are potentially affected.
